Crime on the rise

It was on that morning of Saturday 21 September 2013 when 2 armed malay men climbed into our house from our side fence.

Our maid had disarmed our alarm at 6.25 am and opened our main wooden door and grille.  She locked our dog, Jo in the cage and was washing floor of our car porch.  She heard Jo was barking but she checked and did not see anything.  So she continued with her chores and only realized when one of the armed man put a knife on her neck and told her to be quiet.  She then saw another man jumping in.

They told her to go inside and keep quiet.  Once the two men went upstairs, she quickly locked herself into her room.  She opened the window and started to scream for help, crying and shivering.

While me and hubby heard our Chihuahua, Yugi was barking and then footsteps.  My hubby opened our room door slightly and he saw the back of a man walking to our son's room.  He quickly closed the door and started to bang our window while I was using mobile phone to call my left and right neighbours, our nephew, Ben and sister, Angeline.  But no one was picking up their phones.  Hubby then quickly knocked on the glass window of our nephew's house and his wife, Ginny opened her room's window and this triggered their alarm.

Meanwhile, my son, Wilson was in sleeping mode.  He thought I was opening his room door and on his room lights.  He took the comforter and covered his head.  The robber took his Samsung III smartphone and his wallet, and then woke him up.  He told my son to knock on our room door and call for us.  He was pointing a knife at Wilson.  But  the robber ran off as soon as they heard the alarm.

We came to know that they were two men waiting outside with their motorcycle at row of houses behind us.

Thank God... no one was hurt.  And we gotten the insurance claim from our home content policy for the lost smartphone.

You could hear everywhere houses broken into whether your area is guarded or not, these robbers will just have their way!

Mr Dakgalbi @ Solaris Mont Kiara

Dakgalbi, originated from Korea, a dish made by stir fry marinated diced chicken in fermented condiment (made from red chili, glutinous rice, fermented soybeans & salt) with sliced cabbage, sweet potato, scallions, onions, perilla leaves and rice cake on a hot plate.

We passed by this restaurant when we wanted to go to Caffe Bene and could not resist its pungent smell as the staff will be cooking for you on your dining table. So we have decided that the next dine out would be this Mr Dakgalbi and so far, we had twice!

You can have a choice of rice, ramen with or without cheese. Complimentary drinking water was provided here.  We have ordered Mr Dagalbi Set 3 (for 4 pax) that came wth 2 rice, 1 ramen and 2 cheese but we were allowed to reduce 1 cheese to exchange with another 1 ramen.  This set 3 was just nice for 6 of us that cost RM112.26. With addition of 2 set octopus  RM13.20, the total bill came up to RM133.00.

Lang Tengah

Lang Tengah, an island off the coast in Terengganu, a stated located east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Here, you will expect crystal clear seawater, white sandy beach and untouched tropical jungle.

A few resorts here for you to choose from, D'Coconut Lagoon, Sari Pacifica Beach & Spa Resort and Summer Bay Resort.

We have chosen to stay at Summer Bay Resort and enjoyed our 3 days 2 nights stay there having booked their package which provided two way transfer via boat, pool access quad sharing deluxe room, 4 meals and 1 snorkeling trip a day.

I fell in love with this place, a well maintained and organized resort. As for the buffet meals, nothing to complain about.

Day activities would be snokerling, diving and water sports or you may just laze around.  Get some entertainment at Sunset bar or book a karaoke room at night.  There is a tour to check out Blue Sand which depart at 9 pm daily.

Blue sand is actually a Bioluminescent Ostracod,  shrimp like organism the size of plankton, sometimes known as seed shrimp.  As you swiped your hands across the wet sand, it will lit up by flickering blue lights.

Driving from KL takes you about 4 - 4.5 hours to reach Merang Jetty.

Check in counter at Merang Jetty - your luggage will be checked into the boat & delivered to your room

Boat that could ferry about 30 pax

Sekeping Serendah

I have been to Sekeping Kong Heng in Ipoh but never blog about it. This time, I am gonna write  about Sekeping Serendah.  Thanks to my sister, YF who wanted to find a place to celebrate her daughter 8th birthday, thus the family gathering.

Stairs to bedrooms

Hanging dining table

One of the two swimming pools here

Warehouse 2

Another table

A total of 12 pax (children below 7 stayed for free).  So we paid RM1,500 for a night stay up to total 10 pax at Warehouse 2 that comes with adjoining 2 bedrooms. Additional pax at RM50 per pax up to 14 pax for this unit.

Difference between Warehouse 1 which is slightly cheaper that Warehouse 2 due to smaller size and the 2 bedrooms are separated with different bedding arrangement. Both Warehouses come with 3 bathrooms/toilets.

Warehouse 2, each bedroom comes with 1 queen bed and 3 single beds, just nice for 10 pax.  Additional pax will be provided with sleeping mattress.

Whereas, Warehouse 1, bedroom 1 comes with 2 queen beds and 1 single bed; bedroom 2 comes with 1 queen bed and 3 single beds

Ten types of accommodation here for selection depending on your headcount and preference.
Living room

Lazy to cook, no problem, just order from the caretaker which only cost you RM20 per head/per meal (Nepalese cuisine served with rice for 4 pax or more only).  The kitchen is equipped with a wok, kettle and oven toaster.  Cutleries, plates and cups are provided too.
If you prefer a BBQ night, charcoal, barbeque euipment are provided at no charge.

However, we preferred steamboat instead for our dinner. We were entertained by the kids with their singing performance after dinner.

Everyone has gone to bed early that night since there is no television to entertain you and also the mobile network is quite weak over here.

By the way, mosquito coils and shower gel were provided here. However, do bring mosquito repellent along.

Beds with mosquitoes net

The next morning we had nasi lemak which the caretaker helped us to purchase and sweet red bean soup which we thrown into the slow cooker the night before.  The kids and adults enjoyed themselves with swimming and also brisk walk or jogging around the area.

A good place for an overnight stay away from hustle and bustle of city life.
