Weekend in Penang

We drove down to Penang over the weekend, just a night stay on 12 July 2014.  We fetched along hubby's sister and brother in law.  They were there till Tuesday and took a bus back as we left on Sunday.  Not for any sightseeing or visiting but to give some views to hubby's nephew,  who just got his condominium's key and required some minor renovation.

We had Ayer Itam famous azam laksa for lunch upon arrival and seafood dinner at Teluk Kumbar.

We reached Hao Yau Seafood Restaurant at around 7.30 pm. You need to wait for tables as it was packed.  Double parked and there was an attendant informing the cashier to announce your car number plate if you were blocking someone's car. Tables were all placed on the beach means you be stepping on sand while seated.

They sold what they caught in the morning. Another two dishes that we ordered were Red Snapper steam sweet sour (teochew style) and stir fry water morning glory or another name, water spinach with chillies and shrimp paste.

The bill came up to RM158.30 for the 5 of us excluding satay which we ordered 25 sticks for RM25.00.  The satay stall located besides this restaurant.

Yes, I highly recommend this place for seafood lovers.

The next day brunch, we had varieties at Chowrasta market - Penang Hokien noodle (prawn noodle), Fried noodle (Char kueh teow), Curry Laksa, Otak-otak made of fish and spices and Penang Road Cendol.

We then went off for a meeting with the renovation contractor which actually took us 4 hours! We left Penang at 5.00 pm, reached back to KL by 8.30 pm, merely 3.5 hours drive via highway.

On another note, do indulge in a bowl of Siamese Laksa at Balik Pulau. A must go if you are in Penang.

RM3.50 per bowl.
If you like briyani rice, go to Restaurant Kapitan, try out their lamb briyani and you will yearn for more 😋
